RV redecorating should be it’s own show.
I’ve seen some amazing overhauls on the internet. But what about those of us who don’t want to tear the whole thing apart before we’ve spent some time inside? Here you go! RV redecorating on the down low….. easy changes that make a big difference!
We showed you the beginning shots of Little House of Big (on wheels) with her strong dusty rose/mauve tones (see the Pretty in Pink (NOT!) post). Let me reveal to you our Better in Blue project!
To try and tone down the pinkish carpet and the maroon chairs, we decided to go Americana. We recovered the RVs valances using pillow ticking (with blue strips) and light weight denim fabric.
John is working a post on surrounding the million and one staples which had to be pulled out…..
We already had these great rusty metal stars so we incorporated them into the valances. I love them!
I refuse to attempt to recover the couch so a slipcover it is. We’ve added a quilt we’ve used in our home in the past as well as a couple of pillow covers from my great-grandparents. I love that we have family items that get to travel with us! See…. RV redecorating with slip covers — not hard to accomplish!
This lamp belonged to my mother’s parents and is one of two that my mother gave me. It has a metal shade and I love the shape and size. When we’re parked, the lamp resides on the table between the two rocker chairs in the back of the rig. The table is from IKEA, a double drop leaf. It acts as an outside table when there’s not a picnic bench, or an extra work space inside, or as a portable project table. It’s been very handy to have!
This is my favorite spot for the moment…… sitting in our camper, cuddled up in the afghan my grandmother made, reading a book.
We really like the feel in the camper now. It feels more like us and less like, well, the previous owners. RV redecorating doesn’t have to be an all or none proposition. Change what you can and make a list for next year.
Someday the pink carpet will be removed and we’ll see if we change the theme at that time. But for now, we’re better in blue….. and red and white!
