Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve — what a great place to visit and camp! We had a great time camping in the San Luis Valley. We stayed at Mosca Campground in the San Luis Valley, Colorado State Park. It was about 10 minutes from the Great Sand Dunes National Park and about 30 minutes from the historic town of Alamosa, Colorado. Truth be told, I was not over thrilled with the looks of the Mosca Campground…… just a bunch…

John Martin Reservoir — Camping Trip #4 – And Bents Old Fort
Welcome to the Southeastern side of Colorado in a June that turned hot quickly. John Martin Reservoir is a HUGE body of water with tons of birds and tons of sun. I really did enjoy hearing all of the calls of the birds that I was not familiar with and the reservoir is extremely popular with birders due to the diversity of species. We booked out April 15th and April 22nd to be our two, close to home with full hook up, test runs. And Mother Nature just laughed and laughed. The weekend of April 8th was lovely with the entire weekend in the mid 70’s, bright Colorado sunshine. The weekend…
